Why NBA Sucks Compared to Euroleague
When it comes to basketball, the Euroleague is by far the best league in the world. They may not be the fastest, strongest, most skilled, or highest scoring teams out there, but the way they play is like magic on the court.
Teams in the NBA play way too fast. The players are like giants that dominate the court every chance they get, and it’s never good to have too much excitement on the court. I mean, really, why would anyone pay a bunch of money to go and see someone score 50 points in one game? It’s just ridiculous how fast the NBA is.
Bring me to a Euroleague game any day of the week and we can sit and have a chat while we watch the game. I love the laid-back atmosphere of the games in Europe so much because you get to really focus on all of the aspects of the game, not just the score and the race to the net every ten seconds.
Individualism vs Teamwork
One of my favourite things about the play style of the European teams is the teamwork. It is a bit like Football in the way players constantly pass the ball back and forth on the way to the key. Sometimes I even forget that the net is even the goal, because I get so captivated by all the brilliant passing game.
The NBA, on the other hand, isn’t so keen on passing or recognizing their teammates. It isn’t uncommon to see one player take the ball from one side of the court all the way to the other without even looking at his fellow players. When that happens, it is pretty clear that the managers are really only interested in the scoring portion of the game. That’s fine if all you care about is getting that cup at the end of the season, but where is the actual sport being played? In fact, a lot of times it feels like watching two or three players on each team playing against each other and all the other players are just helping them.
Players in the Euroleague are always well-rested so you can always count on their performance. They do not have nearly the same amount of games that the teams in the NBA have and as a result, they have plenty of time to size up their opponents.
The NBA players do not have these luxuries. Their schedule has them playing several times a week and they do not have any time to practice or rest between games. This means that NBA players are often tired, under-prepared for their games, and at a disadvantage when they are injured because they miss many more games than their Euroleague brothers.
As you can see, there are no good reasons to watch NBA games. If you want to be happy and enjoy the sport the way it was always meant to be played, the Euroleague is where it’s at.
